Q:What is a mathematical  statement?
A: a mathematical statement is a statement that can be judged by truth or false.

For example :
 1) Is a square a triangle?
this is a false mathematical statement because it is a question .

2) 2 is more than 1
this is a true mathematical statement because 2 is bigger than one.

within the mathematical  statements there are certain types of categories which one classifies the mathematical statement.

  • NEGATION
A negation is when writing a not in the sentence.
For example :
2 is not more than one .
or
30 does not equal to 30

  • CONJUNCTION & DISJUNCTION
A conjunction and disjunction  is the adding of the word "and" and "or" in the mathematical sentence.
AND : To use an "and" in the statement both statements should be true.
Ex: I tried to study and then my mother ate my homework.

OR: Either one or both statements can be truth or false.
ex: I couldn't do my hw or read my book.

  • CONDITIONALS:
A conditional has an if and a then. these statements have both a hypothesis and a conclusion .
Ex:  If i ate a peanut butter sandwich then, i was hungry.

  • Inverse: is adding  the "not "to both statements.
Conditional : If i ate a peanut butter sandwich then i was hungry
Ex: If i did not eat a peanut butter then i was not hungry

  • Converse :Is switching both the statements

Conditional: If i ate a peanut butter sandwich then i was hungry
Ex: If i was hungry then i ate a peanut butter sandwhich

  • Contrapositive: In a contrapositive positive statement we both negate and use converse.

Conditional: If i ate a peanut butter sandwich then i was hungry
Ex: If i was not hungry, then i didnot eat a peanut butter sandwhich

 TRY IT :
Conditional : If i had a dog, then i wouldn't cry.

convert this statement into a contrapositive.
